At NY Agtech Week 2017 in September, I was out for drinks with some attendees and asked if they had been discussing blockchain during the week. Nick Burton, who hosts the online Summit: State of the Soil, laughed and made a comment about not wanting to go down that road after an unknown number of drinks. A few months later, I received a brief message on fb: “I swear this isn’t a joke. Would you be interested in giving a blockchain talk in State of the Soil this year?”

After more than a month of building various slide decks on digital agriculture for AVA and beyond, I have finally completed my presentation for season 2 of the State of the Soil online summit. The presentation ended up being more about: what it is, what you should know, and how big its potential is. We are at a strange point where we are still waiting for the backend technologies to be built before we will start seeing solutions at the company, farm, or individual level.

The presentation is below, presenter notes provide some context of dialogue. I posted this for those that already requested to see it. The video of my presentation, along with other video interviews and presentations will be available for free during the first week after the summit launches on February 19.
